New Zealand Flax

Phormium tenax Back in Black (’Seilack') PBR

New Zealand Flax

hormium tenax Back in Black was discovered as a seedling of Phormium tenax ‘Atropurpureum’. It was very different from the other seedlings through its very narrow, black leaves and its dwarf habit. This makes Phormium Back in Black a versatile plant for use in smaller patio containers, in mixed planters or as a nice filler plant in your garden border. Back in Black is tolerant to exposed windy sites on coastal areas and grows well on many soils from heavy to light and sandy soils. It has a nearly grassy appearance and can be used as such in milder areas.
